Dios dio una visión al Apóstol C. Luis Vargas, mientras oraba, que literalmente trazó el curso de la misión distintiva de esta congregación. El Espíritu tomó al pastor mientras oraba y lo trasladó en una visión al patio de una escuela pre-escolar cristiana.
Allí vió y oyó a un grupo de niños jugando y riendo alegremente en el área de recreación. Ellos estaban uniformados y parecían protegidos y libres de toda preocupación y peligro. Entonces la voz de Dios le habló y le dijo: Tus hijos no se educarán en Egipto (tipo del sistema secular humanista) sino en Jerusalén (tipo de la educación cristiana.)
Para ese entonces no existía ninguna iglesia evangélica latina que hubiera jamás comenzado un centro de cuidado diurno ni academia cristiana de educación elemental en Nassau County, Long Island.
Esto era un gran reto, pero el pastor Vargas estaba conciente que era la voluntad de Dios y que él le ayudaría. A finales de ese año 1987, el Señor, sobrenaturalmente, les entregó un edificio, cuando la congregación, que hoy cuenta con más de 700 miembros adultos y 200 niños, solo contaba con unas 18 personas.
El compromiso de más de un cuarto de millón de dólares en hipoteca y una tarea gigante de remodelación del edificio ubicado en el 50 North Main Street en Freeport, parecía algo fuera de toda posibilidad humana, en ese entonces, pero muchas cosas han pasado desde el 1987 al presente. Hoy nos hemos multiplicado y contamos con congregaciones hijas, y seis escuelas en Estados Unidos y en muchos países del mundo.
